China headhunter SunTzu Recruit has learned that data released by the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing on the 3rd shows that the e-commerce logistics index for March was 112.5 points, an increase of 1.1 points from the previous month, indicating a steady improvement in the e-commerce logistics market.
Among the sub-indices, the total business volume index for e-commerce logistics showed a significant increase. In March, the total business volume index for e-commerce logistics was 126.4 points, an increase of 4.2 points from the previous month. Regionally, the total business volume index increased in all regions across the country, with the eastern and central regions seeing the largest increases, exceeding the national average.
In March, the rural e-commerce logistics business volume index was 127.7 points, up 3.4 points from the previous month. The rural business volume index increased in all regions across the country.
In March, the logistics timeliness index was 99.8 points, up 1.9 points from the previous month, ending seven consecutive months of decline. During the same period, the inventory turnover rate index was 105.2 points, down 3.7 points from the previous month. After the Spring Festival, companies sped up restocking, leading to an increase in average inventory and a decrease in the inventory turnover rate index. In March, against the backdrop of increased supply post-holiday, the load factor index fell slightly by 0.6 points but remained at a high level of around 117 points. The fulfillment rate index performed well during the Spring Festival and remained unchanged in March compared to the previous month.
Analysts believe that with the warmer weather and the end of the February Spring Festival holiday, the e-commerce logistics index saw a significant rebound, particularly with active performance on the demand side. From the supply side, the increase in e-commerce consumer demand did not put significant pressure on the supply side, as logistics companies had sufficient supply service capacity reserves. Overall, in March, in line with expectations, the e-commerce logistics market continued to improve steadily. This trend is expected to continue as consumer spending further warms up.
